Anchored in His Word

Active in His Work

Accountable in Our Walk

Thanks for visiting Cornerstone online! We are a church in the South Metro with a desire to glorify God, proclaim the gospel and make disciples of Jesus Christ, care for each other, and be a blessing to our communities and world. A group of us came together in May of 2014 not wanting to start a church but to be the Church.

We like being a small church. The pastor is easily accessible, everyone’s gifts are needed here, and you can’t slip in and out of the worship service unnoticed. We also see a greater need to work with other like-minded churches and not be self-sufficient, thus promoting unity in the body of Christ. We understand some people prefer smaller congregations.

The only building project on our minds is the building up of the Body of Christ. We want to be available to fulfill God’s call upon our lives: making disciples by ministering to our families, our neighbors, each other, and whoever else the Lord puts in our paths. I invite you to worship and fellowship with us some Sunday at 10:00am!

Grace and peace,
Pastor Mark Opseth

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative, and inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1Peter 1:21).

We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30).

We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33); His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:34-35); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9); His resurrection (John 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father where He intercedes for His people as High Priest (Mark 16:19, Romans 8:34, Hebrews 4:14); His personal return to earth in power and glory (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-16).

Man was originally created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27); he fell through disobedience, incurring thereby both physical and spiritual death.  All men are born with a sinful nature (Romans 3:23), are separated from the life of God (Isaiah 59:1-2), and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:20-23; John 14:6; Acts 4:12), which God made available to all mankind, not because of our own merit but because of His grace and mercy (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5).

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The outcome of the unrepentant and unbelieving is existence forever in conscious torment (Revelation 21:8), and that of the believer, in everlasting joy and bliss in the presence of God (Revelation 21:1-4).

We believe in the spiritual unity of the believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28). We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who dwells in (1 Corinthians 3:16) and enables the believer to live a godly life (Romans 8:13-14; 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18).

We believe that we as Christians are examples of the love of God in this world. It is this love that we desire to possess and without which we have no right to call ourselves Christians (1 John 4:16-17).

We believe it is the mandate of the whole Church to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20).

Statement on Biblical Authority
This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of church doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Elder Board is the church’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application for church affairs.

Jesus, the Head of the Church, has given us our mission… And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

We may not have the most concise name for a church, but it captures who we are and who we want to be:

Biblical Truth: We are called to BE disciples
Guiding Principle: We are anchored in His Word

Biblical Truth: We are commissioned to MAKE disciples
Guiding Principle: We are active in His work

Biblical Truth: We are commanded to LOVE disciples
Guiding Principle: We are accountable in our walk

SONY DSC Rev. Mark Opseth
Pastor; Elder Board Chair  |  mark@cmfmn.org

Mark began full-time ministry in 1986 when he served as a youth minister in Albert Lea, MN. Since then, he has served in a variety of positions (associate pastor, executive pastor, camp director, trainer, and senior pastor) and in a variety of settings (church, camp, para-church, non-profit). Mark grew up in a home where Christ was honored, and he submitted his life to Jesus when he was in 4th grade. Mark has gifts in shepherding, encouragement, and administration, and considers preaching to be not just a great responsibility, but a great privilege. Mark also serves as Interim Executive Director at Amnion Crisis Pregnancy Center. He and his wife, Michelle, live in Apple Valley with their seven children (Joshua, Zachary, Micah, Jonathan, Anna, Elijah, and Aliyah), and one dog (Peanut).

Nathan Johnson
Youth Minister; Elder |  nathan@cmfmn.org

Nathan Johnson grew up in a Christ-centered home. When he was five he prayed the sinner’s prayer, but it wasn’t until his late teenage years that God changed His heart. Nathan repented of his pride and sins, and believed in faith that Christ had done a work in him, paying for his sins and wrapping him in Christ’s robes of righteousness. In 2006, Nathan started in ministry, as a youth leader, at a church in Bloomington, MN. He has served at four churches working as a youth leader, interim youth minister, and most recently director of youth ministries. Nathan received biblical and theological training from Northwestern Bible College and Tyndale Biblical Institute. He and his wife, Sara, live in Lakeville with their sons, Levi and Micah.

Aaron Hustedde
Elder  |  aaron@cmfmn.org

Aaron Hustedde became a Christian in his college years after growing up in a devout Catholic family.  He was humbled by the Lord through a number of circumstances and after hearing the Word through the faithful witness of a number of different people, he repented of his sins and trusted Christ as Savior.  His theological training stems from experience serving in a local church body, and under solid expositional teaching from the Word of God.  He served as an elder in his previous church for more than a decade.  A family man with a professional background in communications, Aaron is blessed with the joys of fatherhood and a loving church family.
